Adcock Ingram applauds its workforce, and the Executive Directors make a pledge to the Solidarity Fund

Midrand – As a leading pharmaceutical company in South Africa, Adcock Ingram salutes the President and his Cabinet on the swift and decisive action that has been implemented regarding the management of Covid-19 in order to contain the outbreak of the virus in an effort to prevent further loss of lives. The Company also applauds and give thanks to our public and private sector healthcare workers, emergency personnel, police and military personnel, and other persons who are delivering essential services to South Africa.

In the President’s most recent address, he emphasised that one of the biggest challenges facing not only our country, but many others is the shortage of medical supplies to help in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. As a pharmaceutical company delivering an essential service, we are proud to be one of the many companies who are well aware of the fact that our citizens are depending on us.

‘‘Never before in the history of our Company has our vision: ‘To provide quality products that improve the health and lives of people in the markets we serve’ been more relevant. Adcock Ingram is an integral part of the healthcare system and the medicine supply chain in South Africa. We are deeply committed to this country and have a responsibility, along with other pharmaceutical companies, to ensure that there is an uninterrupted supply of medicines, particularly in our case life-saving medicines such as intravenous fluids and ARVs, and the many acute medicines that are used to treat COVID-19. An illustration of the seriousness with which our people view their responsibility is the commitment of our workforce, including our Critical Care colleagues who worked through the entire Easter weekend to ensure that our country remains fully supplied with life-saving intravenous fluids, sacrificing time with their families during this time’’ says Andy Hall, Chief Executive Officer.

In the address by our President last week Thursday he outlined a strategy that included interventions to assist our collapsing economy, and measures to alleviate hunger and poverty. During this time, many compatriots may lose their jobs and may be unable to meet their financial obligations or be able to feed their families. For those of us who are privileged to be able to earn an income during this difficult period, and have the means, we encourage you to assist our fellow citizens who are in need.

Members of the leadership of Adcock Ingram, namely our Executive Directors and other senior managers, have decided to follow in the footsteps of the President and his Cabinet, and sacrifice a portion of their salaries for the next three months which will be transferred to the Solidarity Fund.

‘I urge individuals and companies in our country who have the financial means to heed the call of our President, like many other companies and individuals have already done. The contributions thus far to the Solidarity Fund are clear evidence that as a country if we all work together; we can overcome the bleak realities that we are currently faced with’ concluded Hall.
